Frequently Asked Questions

What does Life Christian Church offer for children?

Children are of primary importance at Life Christian Church. We believe that that the training of children and the passing on of values is one of the most important things that we do as a church! The wise man Solomon adjured: "Train up a child in the way that He should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Some of our ministries to and for children include:

    1. The dedication of infants and small children to the Lord during a "dedicatory service." These services are held intermittently throughout the year.

    2. We teach Biblical child rearing practices.

    3. We have a children's choir which practices every Sunday morning at 9:45 am under the able direction of Jessica Dunham. The children's choir performs once a month during a Sunday morning Adult worship service.

    4. The children perform in a children's musical once or twice a year in front of the entire church.

    5. We have very dedicated and talented teachers teaching our age and grade appropriate classes on Sunday mornings. Under the very capable direction of Rose Dunham, public grade school teacher for the past 25 plus years, the Sunday school department has adopted the slogan: "Lansing's finest hour." It is the Sunday school department's goal to make the hour children spend in religious training at Life Christian Church - the finest hour of religious training in Lansing.

    6. We have a quality nursery for children. Connie Jolly has worked in our Sunday morning (11:00 am) nursery for over 20 years. She obviously deeply loves the infants.

We have a Singles Friendship Group which meets every week for food, fun, spiritual encouragement, and fellowship. Many singles also are a part of other Home Friendship Groups which meet during the week.

What does Life Christian Church offer for men?

We have a men's friendship group which meets every Tuesday at 11 am. This is led by Lonnie Cox. Lonnie also leads a men's fellowship breakfast at a local restaurant on Tuesdays at 6:30 am.

Our men also get together for various work projects around the church under the direction of Perry Scaggs. Large projects have been completed with a great amount of participation and unity by the men of the church. When Life Christian Church was re-roofed in 2003 we had over 50 men involved and completed the project in a couple of days!

What does Life Christian church offer for women?

The women of Life also get together for shopping trips from time to time.

Life Christian Church also sponsors a chapter of the "Red Hat Society", a fun group directed toward women over 50 years of age. They take special trips, arrange birthday celebrations, and plan various fun social events together. This group is led by the Pastor's wife, Kathy Stephens. The secretary of the group is Helen Darnell.

We have a W.O.W. - Women of Worth - meeting once a month for ladies over 40 years of age. This group is led by Jean Mooney.

What does Life Christian Church offer for seniors?

Once a month we have a S.E.R.V.E. potluck. SERVE is an acronym for:

      Seniors and
      Early
      Retirees
      Volunteering to
      Enrich the lives of others.

This potluck is generally held on the last Saturday of the month.

We have a chapter of the "Red Hat Society" at Life Christian Church. This is a fun filled chapter primarily aimed at women over 50 years of age.

Our seniors are also an integral part of the Home Friendship Group structure, along with other ministries of Life Christian Church.

Why does Life Christian Church desire to be a "book of Acts" church?

We don't want to reinvent church. We want to be the church that Jesus started in the book of Acts!

The book of Acts in the Bible describes how the church began. The Lord had carefully planned the inception of His church: He started His church right!

It is the job of the modern day church to discover how He started His church, what the ingredients of that first church were, and imitate that church.

We were given the prototype on "how to have and build a church" in the book of Acts. We need to study this prototype and reproduce it today. It is not God's plan that we construct our own church with our own emphasis, methods, and doctrine, but that we become a part of His church employing His emphasis, methods, and doctrine.
